6-17-2011 June 17th was a wonderful day for
visiting the seminary grounds in Winona
as superb
Minnesota
weather accompanied serious men ascending the last steps to
ordination. The 11 deacons and 5 priests were ordained by Bishop
Fellay, accompanied by 50 priests and witnessed by a large
contingent of faithful from the
United
States, Canada
and some lost Frenchmen.
Ordination day is an occasion for
the meeting of traditional families and a late evening sing along
around the fire. Noticeable this year was a large number of black
cowls from
New
Mexico. Fr. Cyprian was celebrating his
25th priestly anniversary and witnessed his fifth monk made a
priest, slowly trying to catch up with the Society’s 500
priests!
Given the proximity to the feast of
Pentecost, Bishop Fellay gave a stirring sermon on the deacon’s
and priest's labor under the influence of the fiery Spirit of God;
so necessary to ward off the sinfulness of a world who has lost
the notion of sin because it has lost the notion of God. He also
shared some Roman news, basically to dismiss the rumors that
something was being underway between the SSPX and
Rome.
More on this to come from DICI.org.
At the toast, he also invited all
the attendants to the consecration of our Cincinnati
area church, located in Walton,
KY,
to take place on Saturday, July 16. Stressing the fact that we
desperately need more vocations, he also officially announced the
launching of the new seminary in Virginia for lack of space at the present
Winona
facility to meet the demands of the expanding numbers knocking at
the seminary’s door. He also shared some ideas for the future
use of the Winona
facility, including a retreat house, a boarding school, and etcetera.
Coming
