MT. HOLLY, NC
7-27-2011
On
Pentecost Sunday (June 12),
St. Anthony of Padua Church in Mt. Holly (Charlotte),
NC held a “Fundraiser for a Priest” (for
Rev. Theresian Xavier, who was
ordained this past June). A piano concert was held after
Mass, followed by an outdoor festival. Gourmet coffee
and homemade pastries were sold to parishioners as they
listened to a piano concert performed by some of the
chapels accomplished pianists.
At
the outdoor festival, hotdogs, kebabs, ice cream cones,
ice pops, cookies, lemonade, cold drinks, used books,
religious goods, hand-carved walking sticks made by some
of the chapel’s Eucharistic Crusaders, and other
handmade items were sold. Free games and live music were
provided by parishioners, and greatly added to the
festivities. The event raised $3000 from sales and
donations which went to assist Rev. Xavier in paying off
his remaining seminary tuition.
Here
we present some images of the successful parish
fundraising event.
