As the first day of the Sacred Triduum, Holy Thursday commemorates the institution of the holy priesthood and the Blessed Sacrament by Our Lord Jesus Christ during His Last Supper with His Apostles.

Thus this day has an especial important for the Society of St. Pius X whose first object as a religious congregation "is the priesthood and all that concerns it".
