On December
8, the SSPX gained 27 new members to its religious family.
Archbishop Lefebvre prescribed that the engagements to the
Society would be done on the Feast of the Immaculate
Conception.
On that day, the seminarians and priests offer
their lives to the Church through the Society of St. Pius X,
either for one year, three years, or even perpetually, making
them members of this pious union of priests.
The ceremony of
engagement takes place at the Offertory during Mass, when each
candidate makes his oblation in front of the opened
tabernacle.
This year, 13 seminarians made their first
engagement into the SSPX at Econe (Switzerland), 11 at Winona
(Minnesota), and 3 at Zaitzkofen (Germany).
